Description / Mora Heavy Duty Companion Carbon Knife

The Mora Companion Heavy Duty (HD) is exactly as it's name suggests - a heavy duty version of the renowned Companion knife. The blade is 3.2mm thick, around 0.7mm thicker than a normal companion. It may not sound like much, but when it comes to batoning and more arduous work, the extra thickness really does help. As with all Morakniv knives, it uses their excellent carbon steel, making it razor sharp right out of the box.

The heavy duty is great for anyone who is looking for something slightly more heavy duty than your average Mora Companion.

FAQ: Mora Heavy Duty Companion

Are there any more differences between the heavy duty and the normal companion?

Yes, the handle has a slightly thicker "belly", making it a bit more ergonomic in adult hands.

Is the carbon steel easy to maintain?

So long as you oil it between uses and keep it dry, having the razor sharp edge is worth the maintenance, in our opnion!

How should I maintain the edge?

We recommend using a strop fairly frequently to maintain the razor sharp edge, rather than waiting for it to become dull to resharpen it.

The perfect knife for my needs
Review by
I needed a knife to cut wood and make feather sticks for fire starting. I found it plenty sharp enough for me out of the box. It is very comfortable to use and I have quite large hands. It is very good quality for the price and the sheath is useful. Would definitely recommend this knife.

If your looking for a quality knife for outdoor activities look no further you've found it. Arrived when promised & well packaged. Straight out of the packaging I was aware how it sat comfortably in hand with a great grip, making it safer. Very sharp offered it to my arm & it shaved hair easily. Thicker blade making it more robust as descibed. Great quality without spending a fortune.

Great price, excellent tool.

I own a handmade bushcraft knife which has stood the test ot time. The Mora Heavy Duty Companion is on a par but at a significantly cheaper price. Comfortable in the hand, really good edge which is easy to maintain due to the carbon steel. I also own a couple of Mora wood carving knives which again pound for pound are excellent value. Always excellent service from the team at Springfield's. Thank-you.

Excellent knife

Put knife through its paces today. 2 large bags of battoned wood for the fire, feather sticks, slicing through thick brambles and a few throws. A quick wipe and it looks like I just took it out of the packaging. Excellent knife. Glad I bought it.

Great bit of kit
Review by
Great looking knife and feels solid enough to last a life time. Fits into the sheath well and shouldn't fall out. Only criticism is that it definitely isn't 'razor sharp out of the box' as described, but at this price who cares.

Super knife for the price.
I have pretty average sized hands, the handle is a little longer & wider than the standard companion.
For me the standard handle feels more right, the HD is comfortable, the standard a little more so.
If you have bigger hands you surely will want the HD. If you want the thicker blade the handle will be fine unless you have really small man hands.
A bargain!

Awesome value knife
Review by
Awesome quality steel. Not super sharp out of the box as some say but useable. With a bit of work this thing gets an incredible edge on it. I use this more than my casstrom as I'm less bothered if I chip it as I give it some hammer. File the spine square to use with a firesteel. Really can't find a fault with it. Buy several!

I've bought various knives from here from Anglo Arms to some pretty expensive ones and this beats them all hands down. Also great work on the delivery again guys.
