This is a great beginner set to start your whittling and carving project. Especially as it includes a great little tool roll, strop and polishing compound. 

How we'd use the set at Springfields

1) We'd recommend use the carving knife (bigger blade) to shape the wood to the desired size. 

2) If you are making a spoon or bowl, use the hook knife to start sharping the inside. 

3) Add more definition and detail to your project using the chip carving knife.

4) Strop, quite frequently to maintain sharpeness. Although these knives come moderately sharp they would benefit from a good sharpener before use. It is safer to use a sharpener knife.

We'd recommend this set to anyone starting out wood carving, you can add to the set by adding a Mora 162 or 163 for deep or shallow bowls. You could also add a Mora Companion for taking off bigger chunks of your wood at the start.
